Phlebotomy Technician

Capstone Career Development Center’s Phlebotomy program teaches students the practical knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the role of a Phlebotomist.

11 Week course, classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-9:30pm.  Students will complete the required number of venipuncture (30) and capillary sticks (10) to take the National Health Career Association Certification exam in clinic.

 

Students will learn:

  • Health Care Structure

  • Resume workshop and interview skills

  • Legal Issues in Phlebotomy

  • Specimen Handling, Transporting and Processing

  • Special Collections and Non-Blood Collections Procedures

  • OSHA and Blood Borne Pathogens

  • Arterial Blood Collection

  • Blood Collection in Special Populations

  • Capillary Collection and Equipment

  • Body Systems

  • CPR

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology

  • Medical Terminology

  • Venipuncture and Venipuncture equipment

 

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion in Phlebotomy, CPR certification and OSHA/ Infection control certification. Once successfully completing the course, students will sit for the CPT exam through the NHA. This is included in your tuition.
